As the ride sponsor of the Gold Fork Trip, here is my ideas/dates/etc.
I own 107 acres just north of Gold Fork Hot Springs, so I think it would be blast to use the ranch as a jumping off spot for this ride; Myron did say that people don't like to reload horses and trailer out once they get there, so I am not sure if it will work as I don't know the trails yet; I have been told that there is a forest service road about 1/2 mile from me that will take you all the way to Cascade? Maybe someone in the club that is familiar with the area could call me? We would have to ride along GF RD for about 1/2 mile to get to there.... Anyway, details are as follows.
WHEN: AUG 21-23 FULL MOON ALMOST!
WHERE: ELK MEADOWS RIVER RANCH Take hHighway 55 north to the new Davis Creek Rd turnoff to Gold Fork Hot Springs, go 2 miles over the Gold Fork River Bridge, and at the junction, turn NORTH(LEFT) NOT to the GF HOTSPRINGS. Go about 1/2 mile, road is narrow, and look for the big red barn on the north side of the road, address is 536 Goldfork Road. WHAT; There is a large flat area of about 25 acres for trailers; there are some corrals, and my property includes over 1/2 mile of Gold Fork River, so plenty of water. There is also a RUSTIC outhouse, bring your own magazines!
ARRIVAL: Plan on arriving either Friday afternoon after 1pm, or Saturday morning, the ride out will leave at 11:00AM.
FOOD: Breakfast on Saturday morning from 8:00-10:30am, then a DUTCH OVEN COOKOFF FOR dinner on Saturday night...judges will be a panel of your hungry pals, and the first place award will receive a free weekend stay at our cabin in McCall based on availability! Warm those dutch ovens up! Activities: it is close to a full moon, so bring a towel and swimsuit; GF Hotsprings is about 5 miles away.
RSVP: Either Carla Matthews carla.matthews@simplot.com (208)362-9366 or me, Janet, but I am really hard to reach. I would like to know a head count by the 1st of August so I can make sure there are no bulldozers, contractors, etc. on the property, we are in the process of developing the property. I think thats it; let me know what I may have missed. I will send you some color photos to include in the newsletter. Sounds like a fun party to me!
